Dresden Files Accelerated Edition Playtest! Session 01

This is the first episode of our Dresden Files Accelerated Edition (DFAE) Playtest game. We play the first full session. If you want a little more information about the characters you can listen to our character creation session which I have released concurrently with this session.

Dresden Files Accelerated Edition Playtest – Session 0

Hello!

This is the recording for our Dresden Files Accelerated Edition (DFAE) Playtest Character Creation session.  We spent a long time talking about the Dresden Files, looking at Mantles to know what kinds of characters were available, and a lot of discussion and confusion.

Fair warning, this is probably not a good episode to start with to see what our normal format looks like given that we don’t do a lot of straight up play in this episode.  It was still fun and I’m posting it so that you fine listeners can have the option to hear where our characters come from before we get to the actual Playtest, which you can find here!

Introductions are in Order

Hello!

My name is Colin.  I’ll be doing a majority of the work for this Actual Play Podcast webpage and I’m super excited to be doing this finally!

A little backstory for what has brought me to writing this post is possibly in order. I have been gaming for a majority of my years on this planet.  I started with Dungeons and Dragons and after years of not knowing that there were other options finally discovered indie games.  I was enraptured immediately by this wonderful land of new ideas about what a role playing game actually is.  I have since moved on to different games and my favorite systems right now are Fate, anything Powered by the Apocalypse, and Microscope.

Over the last several years I’ve been listening to and enjoying podcasts about my favorite pass time!  I have finally sucked it up and decided to start posting my groups gaming exploits for others to enjoy as well.  I hope that you will enjoy listening to our adventures in imagination and improv. We’re pretty chill but I will warn you at the outset we don’t really censer ourselves that much at our games.

The other players who will be regularly attending are Matt, Kaetlyn, and Alex.  They are awesome people and great role players.  We have a lot of fun each week and we occasionally have guests on with us as well!  We typically give ourselves an R rating with a few routine trigger warnings for occasional graphic descriptions of violence, swearing, and some off-color comedy.  The whole group asks that, even though we want you to enjoy our stories, if you are offended by this kind of content that you please refrain from listening.  We want our listeners to enjoy our content and the trigger warnings are in place for your protection.

With all of that out of the way, I’ll be officially launching the audio content this week!  Starting Wednesday, October 21st, 2015, I’ll be posting weekly play sessions of our games.  We’re all very excited for the content to go live and I’m thrilled to be sharing the hobby I love with everyone out there who wants to get more gaming action into their life.  We may occasionally have extra content during the week in the form of blog posts and potentially even some additional audio content as well, so be on the lookout for those goodies!
