Legend of the Five Rings – Session 01 Side A

Hello!

Welcome to the first of game session of our Fantasy Flight Games Legend of the Five Rings (L5R) series!  Alex, Kaetlyn, Kolton, and Matt played in this series as Shinjo, Doji, Shiba, and Kakita, and Colin acted as GM.

In this episode we’ll see our players take on the roles of some Ronin who are just trying to make camp for the night but are ambushed by some unlikely foes.  This is a prologue to the events of our actual game and will tie in with events you’ll hear about later on in the publication.  The idea here was that we were going to do a bit more of a cinematic feeling story and this was step one towards trying to bring that experience to the table and to you for your listening pleasure!

Our Pun-O-Meter is only at a 1 for today.  There’s a couple solid puns, but the bulk of the episode is spent learning the system and digging deep on the story.

Legend of the Five Rings – Character Creation

Hello!

Welcome to the first of recording session we had of our Fantasy Flight Games Legend of the Five Rings (L5R) series!  Alex, Kaetlyn, Kolton, and Matt joined this series as players and Colin acted as GM.

In this extended episode you’ll hear us decide what kind of game we wanted to play and then do the Game of 20 Questions.  We say “extended session,” but that doesn’t really do the two and a half hours of content justice.  You can feel free to skip this episode if you’d like as we’ll give a basic overview of this information in Session 01 Side A when it releases next Wednesday, but please feel free to enjoy our table chatter and character design process!

The Pun-O-Meter is at a 1 for today.  We were pretty focused on doing character creation and while we do crack a couple jokes and are obviously having a good time, there’s not much wordplay.

A Small Delay

It is with regret that we’re writing this post to inform you that we won’t be publishing any audio content this week.  Colin, Kaetlyn, and Kolton had a family emergency this week and so the edits for the new series weren’t able to be completed.  We’ll bring you Character Creation on Monday and Episode One Side A of our play of the Fantasy Flight Games Legends of the Five Rings play test next week on the normal day and time, Wednesday, 5pm CST.

Magical Fury – Session 05: Side B

Hello!

Today we continue our Magical Fury!  A “Dark” Magical Girls game by Ewen Cluney series.  You’ll hear Alex, Colin, Elspeth, Hillary, Kolton, and Matt playing their magical girls on Side B, the last part of our fifth and final recording session for this series, and Kaetlyn will continue her awesome job GMing!  We pick up with the girls as they head back underground to deal with the mess they made with the Nail Seal and are confronted by a terrible and dark force protecting it.

The Pun’O’Meter drops down to a 2 for this episode, but we still had a lot of fun and made some good jokes during this session, even if they weren’t puns.
