Legend of the Five Rings

Welcome to our Legend of the Five Rings series! In these episodes, you’ll hear Alex, Kaetlyn, Kolton, Matt, and Colin play out the dramatic lives of Samurai living in the fictional country of Rokugan as they struggle against the sinister forces of the Shadowlands. For this series we used the playtest rules for Fantasy Flight Games edition of the rules (that may give you some idea of when we played).

Character Creation

We present to you the story in two parts; the Present and the Prologue.

The Present takes place in the current year of history in Rokugan. The Empress rules over the Emerald Empire from her Chrysanthemum Throne and is beloved by all. Many years of peace and prosperity have graced the lands of Rokugan and all seems well behind the Kaiu Wall defended by the Crab Clan to the South holding the Shadowlands Armies at bay. We join the characters at a moment in time when things are changing in Rokugan, and not for the better.

The Prologue takes place many many years before this time of peace. Setting into motion the events that would eventually shake Rokugan to it’s very core. Here we’ll follow a different set of characters as they travel into the Shadowlands and go on a journey into utter darkness and emerge on the other side changed by the experiences they’ve had there.
