Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 07 Side A

Hello listeners! We are back from our holiday break and we want to welcome you to Episode 13, Session 07, Side A of the Lost Mines of Phandelver series! It’s the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

In this series you’ll hear Alex play a character named Hal, who is a level 2 Bard when we meet him. Kaetlyn plays the enigmatic Uitzash, a level 2 Warlock in service to a dark patron. Kolton decided to play Olo, a level 2 Tortle Barbarian. While Matt plays a level 2 Grung Wizard. Colin was DM’ing this game. We are using the Milestone leveling variant in this adventure, so the players are completely free to find paths to victory and resolution options outside of combat and murder to solve their problems.

Today, the players make preparations for going to up to the Tresendar Manor, where they believe the Redbrands to be hiding. They procure a cart, craft excellent disguises, and then approach the front door cautiously… and begin to dungeon delve once again.

In today’s episode you’ll hear how the group decides to handle the immediate aftermath of their exploits at the Sleeping Giant Inn. They go to speak with Greywind to gather more information about the Redbrands, possibly a little late in GM Colin’s estimation, and then they go meet the Mayor… and they learn a terrible secret…

There’s one or two decent puns in this episode!

Hello listeners! We are back from our holiday break and we want to welcome you to Episode 11, Session 06, Side A of the Lost Mines of Phandelver series! It’s the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

In this series you’ll hear Alex play a character named Hal, who is a level 2 Bard when we meet him. Kaetlyn plays the enigmatic Uitzash, a level 2 Warlock in service to a dark patron. In today’s session, Uitzash wakes up from being unconscious after the Redbrand fight back in Session 04. She hunts down the rest of the party and finds out what they’ve been up to since she’s been out of action. Once they fill her in, they find out that she’s surprisingly OK with this whole situation!

There’s still some pretty macabre jokes in this episode since we’re dealing with the aftermath of the “Dinner Service” incident, but the jokes aren’t nearly so dark as they were previously. The content warning is still in effect but it’s definitely toned down from where we were in last week’s episode.

A couple solid puns crop up in this episode, but nothing super crazy this week.

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 05 Side B

Hello listeners! We are back from our holiday break and we want to welcome you to Episode 9, Session 05, Side A of the Lost Mines of Phandelver series! It’s the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

In today’s service… I mean Session… the characters enact their plan to attack and kill the Red Brands. With food! It’s a delicious plan that’s executed with a sumptuous amount of spicy jokes and laughs! I loved this sequence; it was very fun to play out and I hope that you guys enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed playing it out.

A quick content warning for this episode: casual discussion of murder, casual depiction a murder scene, and raucous comedy/jokes surrounding this content.

The characters in this series are decidedly not good people but the players have a small amount of dissonance with this situation and didn’t realize how easy it would be to casually kill a bunch of people all at once if they put their minds to it for a very short amount of time. None of the players or the DM had their feelings hurt by the discussion, nor was anybody angry at the table; we’re all having a great time because this is our table culture. If you take issue with speaking lightly about or casually making jokes about taking human life, then this might be a good episode to skip.
