The Phour Phandeleers – Session 08 – Side B

Hello Listeners!

This week is Session 08 Side B of The Phour Phandeleers, a continuation of our Lost Mines of Phandelver Campaign with some special tweaks. We’re using the Storm Kings Thunder adventure module from Wizards of the Coast with heavy modifications as our campaign framework and using is a slightly modified version of Realms of Terrinoth, a version of the Genesys Roleplaying System by Fantasy Flight Games.

In this series, you’ll hear Alex play Hal, a Firbolg Bard. Kaetlyn plays Uitzash, a Warlock in service to Dendar. Kolton plays Krask, a Lizardfolk Paladin. Matt plays Rwrarp (pronounced like the frog sound), a Grung Necromancer. And Colin was running this chaos… I mean game. All of the characters had been given 150 xp to spend which may have been roughly equivalent to a 2nd tier adventurer in D&D. Since this was a conversion, we were willing to be wrong about that.

This is our final episode.

Way back in February or March of 2020, we recorded this episode the week before the pandemic began and we stopped meeting up in person (for obvious reasons). We, like everyone else, figured we could “wait out” the Covid conditions so we started playing a pickup game online to tide us over.

Now it’s more than a year later, we’ve played a few games since that little pick-up we started in March 2020, we completely exhausted our backlog for the podcast, we’re still not sure when we can get back to recording the way we like to, and we’ve all sortof moved on from this game series in our hearts and minds. In spite of how hilarious and wonderful it was to play.

We discussed our options as a group and the Wednesday Night Crew has decided that we’re going to put the podcast on hiatus.

The delay until new episodes will last until we can get back on track with recording and develop a few episodes of backlog.

Thank you all so much for coming along on our hobby journey with us! It’s been a pretty awesome few years letting you guys have a peak into our gaming lives.

Without further adieu, here’s this week’s episode in which we finish up the second round of combat and the players end up getting back into the hot water right at the end of the session.

Please, enjoy the show!

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 26 Side B

Hello Listeners!

Before we get to the episode synopsis, I wanted to mention here that starting next week The Wednesday Night Crew will be taking a break for the holidays. There’s a similarly brief announcement in the episode as well, but it felt weird not mentioning it in writing here.

Happy holidays to all of our listeners out there! We wish you good health and safety.

Now, on to the episode announcement!

This week is Episode 53, Session 26 Side B, for the Lost Mines of Phandelver, the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

You’ll hear Alex play Hal, a level 4 Bard. Kaetlyn plays Uitzash, a level 4 Warlock in service to Dendar. Kolton is introducing Krask, a level 4 Lizardfolk Paladin. And Matt plays a level 4 Grung Wizard named Rwrarp (pronounced like a frog noise). Colin was DM’ing this game. We are using the Milestone leveling variant in this adventure.

In today’s episode, you’ll hear our characters play some very classic D&D. They use a monster’s nature to their advantage and then take another completely by surprise! Consequences result, as they always do in this game. Give a listen and see what their brilliant plans were!

Please, enjoy the show!

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 26 Side A

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 25 Side B

Hello Listeners!

This week is Episode 51, Session 25 Side B, for the Lost Mines of Phandelver, the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

In today’s episode we have a pretty tense series of rounds where Krask is unconscious and being eaten by ghouls. The party spends most of their time trying to figure out how to save the poor dying paladin but most of their plans are thwarted by the Action Economy. His rescue eventually comes in the form of an Owlbear. Not a statement typically applicable to most of my prior D&D games.

One big pun pushes us up to level 2

Please, enjoy the show!

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 25 Side A

Hello Listeners!

This week is Episode 50, Session 25 Side A, for the Lost Mines of Phandelver, the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

In today’s episode, the players decide that it’s time to finish what they started with those ghouls they saw tear up their enemies a few episodes back after they defeated the Flame Skull. And by “finish what they started,” I mean “go in there for the very first time since they saw what happened with the Bugbears who went in there and Greg scouted it out for them.”

They head in there with a decent plan and a reckless attitude. Of course, Krask gets into trouble immediately.

What else would we expect from this group though, right?

Couple good puns in there, so we’ll give them the “2” this time.

Please, enjoy the show!

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 24 Side B

Hello Listeners!

This week is Episode 48, Session 24 Side A, for the Lost Mines of Phandelver, the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

In today’s adventure, the players rescue the last surviving Rockseeker!

Colin considered this a major accomplishment since he was pretty sure they were going to miss this tiny, locked, side room in the dungeon. Not enough of an accomplishment to let the players level-up of course, they still have a lot of this dungeon to clear after all. The deal they end up cutting with the dwarven entrepreneur was also a stroke of genius on their part, so we can chalk this social encounter up as a win for them.

Got at least 1 pun in there this week, so we’re giving them an uptick on the ‘Meter!

Please, enjoy the show!

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 24 Side A

Hello Listeners!

So there’s a fair amount of crosstalk in this episode. We’d been on hiatus for a while so we were excited to see each other and hang out again. I apologize for the sound quality and our lack of professionalism. But we did have a lot of fun, which I’ll never apologize for.

In this episode, the characters loot the bodies of their fallen foes and we have a lot of tangential thoughts and conversations. But there’s a little character building, a little investigation, and some discussion about the world as well.

Please, enjoy the show!

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 23 Side B

Hello Listeners!

In this episode you’ll hear us finish the climactic fight with the Black Spider! We also got a little loopy from a combat that lasted longer than Colin anticipated. Good times all around!

Please, enjoy the show!

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 23 Side A

Hello Listeners!

This week is Episode 46, Session 23 Side A, for the Lost Mines of Phandelver, the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

In this episode, the adventurers, less than stealthy due to a loudly whispered argument and an untimely sneeze, burst into a columned chamber with a giant dwarf statue and a couple bugbears. This generates a little confusion for the party as they were pretty sure that there was a drow in here at the end of last session. They rush in there and… the situation changes rapidly from there.

Please, enjoy the show!

Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 22 Side B

Hello Listeners!

This week is Episode 45, Session 22 Side B, for the Lost Mines of Phandelver, the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

After their encounter with Mormesk, the characters finally go and investigate the source of the booming sound. What they discover, is truly underwhelming.

The eventually decide that it’s time to do something about the creatures in this cave once and for all, because this is bullshit.

Please, enjoy the show!
