Lost Mines of Phandelver – Session 11 Side A

Hello Listeners!

We are back this week with Episode 22, Session 11, Side A of the Lost Mines of Phandelver series! Which is the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

This week, the players leveled up! So you’ll you’ll hear Alex play Hal, a level 3 Bard. Kaetlyn plays Uitzash, a level 3 Warlock in service to a dark patron. Kolton plays Olo, a level 3 Tortle Barbarian. And Matt plays a level 3 Grung Wizard named Rwrarp (pronounced like a frog noise). Colin was DM’ing this game. We are using the Milestone leveling variant in this adventure.

It’s downtime in this episode! So we do shopping and take care of some narrative concerns surrounding leveling up. We had fun.

We are back this week with Episode 21, Session 10, Side B of the Lost Mines of Phandelver series! Which is the beginners adventure presented in the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

In this series you’ll hear Alex play a character named Hal, who is a level 2 Bard when we meet him. Kaetlyn plays the enigmatic Uitzash, a level 2 Warlock in service to a dark patron. Kolton decided to play Olo, a level 2 Tortle Barbarian. While Matt plays a level 2 Grung Wizard. Colin was DM’ing this game. We are using the Milestone leveling variant in this adventure, so the players are completely free to find paths to victory and resolution options outside of combat and murder to solve their problems.

In today’s episode we loot Glass Staff’s room! We talk logistics about how we want to proceed with the rest of the dungeon because the players feel that they’ve completed their mission. Ultimately we decide to proceed with the exploration and delve deeper into the Tresendar Manor before returning to the town of Phandalin.

In today’s episode we were a little pressed for time because Colin forgot the charger for the laptop the Wednesday Night Crew records the game on so there’s a little bit of tension at the beginning of the session surrounding timeliness. In the fiction, however, our band of adventurers faces down their second major foe; The Wizard, Glass Staff. There’s banter and games while they try to outmaneuver each other but then? It’s Initiative. He’s got a few tricks up his sleeves… will they be enough to confound the heroes?

Not many puns in this episode, but we make some pretty bawdy jokes.

In this session we finish the fight with the bugbears, deal with the conundrum of having prisoners you don’t know what to do with, and then Olo makes a friend!

We start this session, as always, with a recap. We then quickly move into discussing the intricacies of hallway construction and combat! Glorious combat! This time with bugbears with exotic and interesting accessories.
